Diversity In Children's Literature

Considered to be profoundly influential for children to experience different situations and to be able to discuss a range of feelings that may not occur in their day-to-day lives, children's books are crucial for preadolescent audiences to learn about the world around them. This has been made possible by a structured mirror, window system, mirrors so that children can see their lives being reflected, and windows so that audiences can gain insight into another's life.

Therefore, it is important for children to see a range of diversity in their literature in order to learn about others and feel acknowledged in the pages of their books, this includes variations in gender, class, abilities

and culture.

Despite knowing how important these representations are, many children's books continue to be "littered" with white heterosexual, able-bodied, often Christian, cisgender males.
